@katharine61 Had a wonderful suggestion (seconded by @Smoj) about a topic that would list out helpline numbers should any of us have an urgent need to call a helpline. I’m sure most, if not all of us, know our local emergency number should we have an emergency of that level, but I’ve often found that helpline numbers circulate but I never remember them. I might write it down but the sticky note disappears.

This way, we can have a list of numbers that is far easier to find in the long run, and getting helpline numbers quickly when they are needed is definitely important. Though please keep in mind (you guys I’m sure know this but I gotta say it) that the helpline is the responsibility of the people running it, we (How to ADHD) are not connected to these helplines in anyway, this is just a group effort of collecting helpline numbers from around the world.

Here’s how it works…
Post the location for the helpline and the helpline number in a reply and I will update this post with numbers as they come in.

Telehealth Ontario
Toll free : 1-866-797-0000

For us Canadians

When you call, a Registered Nurse will ask you to answer questions so they can assess your health problem and give you advice.

Telehealth Ontario nurses will not diagnose your illness or give you medicine. They will direct you to the most appropriate level of care or may put you in contact with a health professional who can advise you on your next steps.

The nurse will help you decide whether to:

handle a problem yourself
visit your doctor or nurse practitioner
go to a clinic
contact a community service
go to a hospital emergency room

This means they can and will connect you will emergency psychologists.

In belgium there is Tele-acceuille for french speaking people:
the number is 107
The same service is avaidable for german speakingt people with the number 108

The people answering the calls are volontiers and while they do recieve training, they are, for the most part, no mental health professionals.
However they can help you find a proffessional if need be.

@Eon3000 @HarleyKyn it’s 999 in the UK but i believe 911 works too because so many of us grow up with American media that lot of kids would just use what they hear all the time.

Updated!

@Psymob Added the 999 emergency number! I’ll put 911 on there if we can confirm it’s actually the case. Definitely want to avoid mistakes in the emergency number area. Glad we can add the UK emergency # tho!!
