Hello to all who might be reading. I am a 26 year old female who was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia third grade after having to be held back in my grade. When I was younger I also had hearing problems that caused me to be partially deaf which cause me to have a speech impediment and also caused a lot of pain when going to sleep or when having an ear infection. I went through several surgeries to try and fix my hearing which luckily for me wasn’t permanent. I grew up in a single family home and I was an only child so it was hard for my Dad to always give me assistance I needed in my school work, I also hated it when my Dad tried to help me. I struggled at in school with trying to “apply” myself, while I enjoyed school I also found it boring for the most part. Well flash forward to graduating high school I had no direction for my life and felt like school might not be an option for me as I wasnt “smart” and I didn’t have any support to go or pay for college and I didnt want to waste money when I didn’t know what to do. Well I volunteered for a non profit children’s organization and fell in love with working for kids so I decided I would go to school to pursue my dreams. I went to community college and got accepted in the health program I wanted, Occupational therapy assistant and graduated, almost got honors too but missed by one point with a 3.34. I plan on going to get my masters as well to further continue my studies. I so amazed at where I am and I wish to further push myself. I now work with children with disabilities, so that I can help them be awesome and work with them in their struggles.
